Claudia Leticia Castro is originally from San Luis Potosi, Mexico and immigrated to the United States when she was 9 years old, undergoing constant challenges as the daughter of a migrant farm worker before settling in Dallas, Texas. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas Woman’s University in 2001 and a Master of Bilingual Education from Southern Methodist University in 2004. Currently a Kindergarten and first grade Dual Language lead teacher in Dallas ISD for 23 years, she has been passionate about teaching and learning, having successfully served generations of students and families and being the advocate and role model that she wished she had while growing up. Recognized as a Master teacher by the Texas Education Agency, she remains committed to making a difference in her school community and seeks to broaden her impact in the education community while continuing to inspire students, families, and colleagues to discover their full potential and be the best that they can be. She has been featured on the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching and TEA Online Portal as well as on “Unidos para Aprender” television program for Univision.
