The presenter originally comes from South Korea and has about 20 years of teaching experience in the areas of K-12 teacher education and English language learner (ELL) education. She currently serves as an assistant professor of Education and teaches ELL courses for teacher candidates in early childhood, elementary education, and secondary education. In addition, as a former English as a second language (ESL) teacher, she previously taught a variety of ESL courses in intensive English programs and ESL pathway programs in university and K-12 settings. She has played leadership and committee roles at the international/local TESOL Association. Her research interests include in-service and pre-service K-12 teacher education, bilingual/multicultural education, second language literacy development, technology-integrated language teaching and learning, and family engagement. She has published peer-reviewed book chapters and articles in scholarly journals, such as Language Awareness and International Journal of TESOL and Learning.
