Internationals Network for Public Schools Inc.
Bridgit brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role as Senior Leadership Coach for the Internationals Network for Public Schools, where she continues to advocate for Multilingual Learner (MLL) students. Her journey in education began in 1985 when she started as an ESL teacher for adult student refugees from various countries at the NYC Department of Education (DOE). Bridgit’s passion for education and language learning led her to transition to adolescent ELL teaching within a bilingual program at a large comprehensive high school in NYC. She then honed her skills as a Congruence Specialist for ESL and bilingual programs across schools in Brooklyn and Staten Island. Throughout her career, Bridgit’s dedication to serving diverse student populations took her to various roles with the Internationals Network. She was a founding humanities teacher and internship coordinator at Manhattan International High School, contributed as an ENL teacher and acting Assistant Principal at Bronx International High School, and ultimately became the founding principal of Pan American International High School at Monroe in 2008. Bridgit brings an international focus to her work with MLL students having lived in Venezuela and Spain and lived and worked in education in Mexico. After retiring from the NYC DOE in 2019, with more than 30 years of educational experience, Bridgit’s commitment to the education of newcomer immigrant students remains steadfast. Her continued work and advocacy within the Internationals Network showcase her ongoing dedication to empowering and supporting MLL students.
