Early Beginnings/Bilinguistas
Brazilian and bilingual, Ana Carolina holds a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Bachelor of Science in Biology for Secondary Education. She also holds a postgraduate degree in School Administration and is undertaking a master’s in Education. Ana Carolina has more than 15 years of bilingual school experience with children from 3-10 years old in Brazil, Chile, and the Dominican Republic. With this background, she possesses a strong multicultural worldview and promotes the importance of understanding children's development holistically. Ana Carolina values children's hundred languages as tools for meaningful self-expression, and relationship-building and as a way to expand their cultural and cognitive experiences. Since co-founding the Early Beginnings and Bilinguistas, Ana Carolina has written and developed courses such as Core Practices in a Bilingual Early Childhood Classroom and Essential Routines in a Bilingual Early Years Classroom, developed content for NABE’s Para Niños course, mentored teachers, given talks at conferences, and advocated research-based early childhood bilingual education practice.
