Biography

Alicia Brienza (She/Her) is currently serving as the Director of the Writing Center at Farmingdale State College. A SUNY alum, Alicia returned to public higher education after serving at various private higher ed institutions for nearly ten years such as Boston College and Northeastern University. Her professional work encompasses many different roles in student support from tutoring, academic coaching, advising, and administration. Alicia is currently interested in how writing centers and writing classrooms cultivate community, as a form of resistance to the preconceived notion that artists and writers exist only in isolation. This interest is rooted in the belief that all persons are imbued with a capacity for and desire to create. For academic year 2024, Alicia is spearheading a Take an (Art) Break series linking art, writing, and music.
