Biography

Khalil El-Saghir is a Multilingual Consultant at Wayne County RESA in Michigan with over two decades of experience in K-12 education. Khalil's expertise encompasses teaching at various levels (K-12 and higher Ed.), training and coaching teachers who work with multilingual learners (MLs), providing consultation to school districts on the development of effective language assistance programs, and actively advocating for equitable funding in multilingual education at both state and national levels. He frequently presents at conferences and workshops on language development, asset-based approach to multilingual education, and harnessing AI to support MLs and their teachers. Additionally, Khalil has been serving on multiple statewide educational committees as well as on the executive boards of prominent organizations in the field (e.g., MITESOL and MABE). He is currently a board member of the National Association of EL Program Administrators (NAELPA).
