Biography

I've been an educator for over 25 years. My professional background includes Special Education, Dyslexia Specialist, Middle School Language Arts Teacher, Instructional Coach, Reading Special and Educational Consultant. After many successful years working with students and teachers, my role switched to serving the community of El Paso as an Educational Consultant for Region 19. Within this role, I was able to collaborate closely with the Texas Education Agency as the state’s dyslexia point of contact, as well as in many other initiatives in the area of the Science of Teaching Reading, Bilingual/ESL Education and Language Arts. In the fall of 2022, I was invited to become an adjunct professor for the University of New Mexico in Las Cruces and has been teaching early literacy courses.
