Biography

Julie Smith is a bilingual (Spanish-English) preschool speech-language pathologist and is currently completing her doctorate in communication sciences and disorders under Dr. Carol Scheffner Hammer at Teachers College Columbia University. Her studies and clinical practice focus on language and literacy development in young dual language learners (DLL) and practices that promote bilingual development across home and school contexts. Julie has three years of experience working with preschool teachers as a coach for the ExCELL (Exceptional Coaching for Early Language and Literacy) professional development program.
