Dr. Lizdelia Piñón, an eminent expert in bilingual education, serves as the Emergent Bilingual Education Specialist at IDRA, bringing over two decades of rich experience in bilingual and ESL pedagogy and leadership education. Her extensive career spans K-12 and higher education environments, exhibiting her comprehensive understanding of the academic landscape. Dr. Piñón received her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Texas Christian University (TCU), where she conducted pivotal research on the implementation of translanguaging. Her academic credentials further include a Master of Science in Literacy Education and an Advanced Certificate of Graduate Studies in TESOL and Bilingual Education, both from Northern Illinois University (NIU). She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a minor in Spanish, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). A multifaceted educator, Dr. Piñón possesses Principal Certification and Generalist Teaching Certificates for grades EC-6 and 4-8, along with Bilingual Education Certification for grades EC-8. These qualifications span two states, Texas and Illinois, underlining her wide-ranging expertise. Dr. Piñón is proficient in Spanish and English, significantly enriching her contributions to bilingual education.
