Dr. Elizabeth Alvarado is the Senior Policy Analyst for Dual Language Learners at Californians Together. With over two decades of experience in education, she has worked in various areas, from owning and operating a Spanish immersion preschool to teaching equity and inclusion classes to college students. Dr. Alvarado specializes in bilingual education and strongly advocates for the cognitive and social benefits of bilingualism. She holds a Doctorate of Education in Urban Schooling from the University of California - Los Angeles and a Master’s Degree in Education Policy and Management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Dr. Alvarado also earned a Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential with a concentration in bilingual education, as well as a California Child Development Program Director Permit. Throughout her career, she has presented at national, statewide, and local educational conferences and authored several publications related to bilingual and multicultural education. In her free time, Dr. Alvarado enjoys spending quality moments with her daughters, cooking, practicing yoga, hiking, and traveling.
