Zulma Mojica is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Arlington. She has worked in bilingual education for 20 years with experience in transitional bilingual and dual language programs. She has also worked as a bilingual reading interventionist and instructional coach and has taught pre-service and in-service bilingual teachers. Dr. Mojica’s teaching experiences have developed her research interests, which include the implementation of dual language instruction, biliteracy, heteroglossic perspectives to bilingual instruction, and translanguaging. Dr. Mojica has presented her research at the Literacy Research Association, American Educational Research Association, National Association for Bilingual Education, Texas Association of Bilingual Education, and CONLES (Congreso Latinoamericano para el desarrollo de la lectura y la escritura). Dr. Mojica has published her work in the Bilingual Research Journal and the Journal of Latinos and Education. Dr. Mojica has also authored a chapter entitled “Translanguaged Reciprocal Teaching: Working in Students’ Bilingual Zone of Proximal Development for Reading Interventions” in the book Innovative Approaches for Teaching Multilingual Students.
