Biography

Serena Keeney-Horsch, awarded Maryland Language Teacher of the Year 2020, currently serves as a Dual Language Instructional Coach in Montgomery County Public Schools. Her career has taken her from the Bronx, NY with Teach for America to the Peace Corps in Suriname, where she lived in the rainforest and worked as a rural community development specialist teaching literacy to women in their own language and English language development in local villages. She has inaugurated two dual language programs in MCPS since 2001 and continues to advocate for the students she serves and their families to embrace bilingualism and biliteracy through her passion for languages. Dynamic Multilingual Solutions was founded in 2022 to share stories, experiences, research, and resources with others about social justice and language education.
