Biography

Amalia Chamorro leads education policy for UnidosUS. Her work encompasses early childhood education, K-12, and higher education. In this role, Amalia provides strategic direction and manages policy and advocacy activities for the education policy team. Her work focuses on closing opportunity gaps and advancing equity for Latino students and multilingual learners at both the federal and state levels (the organization’s focus states include Arizona, California, Florida, and Texas). Prior to joining UnidosUS in 2018, Amalia was Vice President of Public Policy at United Way Bay Area and held government relations director roles at a California statewide business association and postsecondary student advocacy organization. Amalia earned a Juris Doctor degree from Boston College Law School and holds a bachelor’s in political science from UCLA.
