Dr. Alissa Blair is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Arkansas, where she teachers graduate level courses in TESOL and bilingual education. Alissa’s research focuses on the education of K-12 multilingual learners, in particular language and literacy in content-area learning, bilingual education, family engagement, and teacher education. Her work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals including Bilingual Research Journal, TESOL Quarterly, Review of Research in Education, Language and Education, and Theory Into Practice, among others. Alissa completed her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to her doctoral studies, Alissa lived in Santiago, Chile for five years where she worked at the Chilean Ministry of Education. Alissa is passionate about working with educators and families to make schooling more just and nurturing for culturally and linguistically diverse children and youth.
