Biography

Miriam Eisenstein Ebsworth, PhD in Lingusitics, is an Associate Professor at New York University in the Department of Teaching and Learning. A speaker of multiple languages, she is a researcher and teacher educator who is passionate about bilingualism and bilingual education. Formerly a member of the NABE Executive Board, she is an active member of the NY State Seal of Biliteracy Task Force and has served the Seal of Biliteracy national task force. She also serves on the Hispanic Education Coalition, the NYSABE Advocacy Committee and advisory boards of the Bilingual Research Journal, the Journal of Writing and Pedagogy, and the NYSTESOL Journal. Miriam is the recipient of the NABE Lifelong Educator Award, the AERA Bilingual Ed sig Lifetime Achievement Award, and the NYSABE Gladys Correa Memorial Award. She is the organizer of the annual NABE Research Institute.
