Biography

Refugio Patricia Tamayo-Fagler, (Paty Fagler) is a Two-Way Dual Language model school educator, and administrator. With a background in bilingual education and sheltered instruction strategies for language development, science, and literacy, her career expands over 20 years of teaching from the early childhood to high school classrooms, in addition to being a professional development creator and facilitator for teachers and school administrators. Originating from Morelia Mexico, and currently located in Houston Texas, Paty has worked in suburban and inner-city schools fostering and supporting English language acquisition while preserving students’ Spanish language and background to promote self-esteem, bi-literacy, and self-cultural pride and awareness. Her passion is focused in providing professional development on research-based topics related to improving the effectiveness of dual language programs.
