Myriam Jimena Guerra is an Associate Professor of Bilingual and ESL Education at the College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. She earned her Ph.D. in the Bicultural-Bilingual Program in Culture, Literacy, and Language from the University of Texas at San Antonio. A native of Colombia, Dr. Guerra brings a rich cultural perspective to her work, having taught elementary school for 11 years in San Antonio public schools. A respected scholar, Dr. Myriam Jimena Guerra regularly presents at international, national, and regional conferences. Her research has been featured in prestigious journals, and she co-authored the book Second Language Education for Teacher Candidates and Professionals. Her scholarly interests include biliteracy and bilingualism across home and school contexts, family literacies, bilingual teacher preparation, and dual-language pedagogies. Dr. Guerra's work is dedicated to advancing bilingual education and preparing the next generation of educators to serve multilingual communities.
