Biography

Mabel Leal currently serves as a 1st and 2nd Grade Math and Science Dual Language Teacher at Lakewood Elementary in Dallas ISD. She previously taught 3rd & 4th Math and Science DL for 5 years and 1st Grade DL Self Contained at the same school for over 10 years. Mabel earned her Bachelor's of Arts in Accounting in Tampico, Mexico. She received her Certification as an Overseas Teacher of English by the British Council. She has been certified as a Bilingual Educator for over 19 years, although has been in involved in education for over 30 years. Mabel was one of the first educators to pilot the full immersion DL Program in DISD. She has also worked closely with the Bilingual ESL Department in the selection of resources, development of assessment, and of curriculum. Mabel has served not just English Learners but has also worked closely with Gen. Ed and E.L. Gifted and Talented Students.
