Alice has over 20 years of experience that combines classroom teaching, administration, curriculum writing, assessment creation, and policy writing in multiple states. The majority of her experience has been with students identified as English learners (ELs). Since 2017, Alice has been at the Louisiana Department of Education where she has held several roles including Special Populations Assessment Coordinator, EL Program Coordinator, and Title III Director. In each role, she has primarily supported ELs and their educators while always working to get the EL lens applied to all development and educational decisions. In her spare time, Alice has just completed her Ph.D. in English Education (emphasis on English learners) at LSU. She is also on the advisory committee for Learning for Justice (formerly Teaching Tolerance). Alice enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her husband and rescued Boston Terriers.
