Biography

Jordan González, Ph.D., is an accomplished educator specializing in language, literacy, and leadership development for Multilingual Learner success. With a Ph.D. in Literacy from St. John's University and a graduate degree in Applied Linguistics-Second Language Acquisition from Teachers College, Columbia University, Dr. González has a strong academic background in second language development.. Dr. González began his teaching career in Madrid, Spain, as an English as a Foreign Language high school teacher before transitioning to the New York City Department of Education. There, he taught English as a New Language and Spanish at the high school level. He then became the Director of Language Acquisition for Yonkers Public Schools, overseeing Bilingual Education, English as a New Language, and World Language programs for Prek-12 students in one of the largest school districts in New York. Currently, he serves as the lead resource specialist for the NYSED Long Island Regional Bilingual Education Resources Network (L.I.RBERN), Dr. González provides regulatory guidance and professional learning to school districts on matters concerning English Language Learners. Additionally, he is an Assistant Professor of Bilingual Education and TESOL at St. John's University. Dr. González's research interests include feedback for L2 writing development, trauma-informed pedagogies, and systems development for Multilingual Learners. He actively contributes to the field and serves on the Board of Directors for the New York State Association for Bilingual Education (NYSABE), where he recently served as the conference chairperson for the 45th Annual NYSABE conference.
