Ahmet Saglam is a Lead Project Scientist at the Virginia Institute of Spaceflight and Autonomy, a research center within Old Dominion University (ODU). His work focuses on developing the next generation of autonomous and semi-autonomous robots able to operate reliably in complex, real-world environments. He specializes in navigation, assisted teleoperation, and maritime autonomy, with a particular interest in unmanned ground and water systems. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from ODU, where his dissertation centered on mobile robot teleoperation. He holds a B.S. in Systems Engineering from the Turkish Military Academy (2008) and pursued graduate studies in Modeling, Virtual Environments, and Simulation at the Naval Postgraduate School before transferring to ODU.
