Biography

Yesenia McCleskey is a dedicated education leader currently serving as Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Bridgeport Independent School District in Denton, Texas. With a focus on academic excellence and student growth, she plays a pivotal role in curriculum development, instructional coaching, and professional learning initiatives across the district. Her work is deeply rooted in bilingual education and the development of culturally responsive practices that support emergent bilinguals. A champion of teacher development, Yesenia leads initiatives that build educator capacity through targeted coaching, collaborative learning communities, and strategic support aligned to district goals and student needs. Yesenia holds a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas at Austin, a Master’s degree from Texas Woman’s University, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Reading Education at Texas Woman’s University, where her research focuses on literacy, language ideologies, and instructional leadership for multilingual learners.
