Biography

Kendra Herrera is a dedicated educational leader with a wealth of experience across various levels of K-12 education. Her career spans roles as an elementary teacher, instructional coach, high school Assistant Principal, Dean of Instruction, and Middle School Principal. This diverse background has provided her with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and triumphs within the educational landscape. Currently, Kendra is a doctoral candidate at Kansas State University, further deepening her commitment to educational advancement. She also serves as the Director of Innovation and Outreach for the CIMA Center, where she spearheads initiatives aimed at fostering innovative educational practices. In addition, she holds the position of HEP Director, demonstrating her dedication to supporting educational programs. Throughout her career, Kendra has chosen to focus her efforts on low-performing, culturally and linguistically diverse schools. This intentional path underscores her passion for equity and her belief in the potential of all students, regardless of their background. Her work consistently reflects a commitment to valuing and integrating students' culturally embedded notions of communication, expression, and comprehension into the learning process, striving to ensure that what often is absent is made present in her classrooms. Her leadership and research are driven by a desire to create inclusive and effective learning environments that honor the unique biographies of every student.
