Biography

Dr. Leanne M. Evans is the Director of the Universities of Wisconsin Institute for Urban Education. She is an associate professor and Co-Chair of the Inclusive Early Childhood Teacher Education Program in the Department of Teaching and Learning at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Her teaching and research interests include literacy and language development in the lives of young children; culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy; the experiences of teachers and teacher educators in urban education; and the building of partnerships across educational settings. Dr. Evans is the co-editor of the recently published volume, Advancing Critical Pedagogy and Praxis Across Educational Settings. Her scholarship has been published in the Bilingual Research Journal, Urban Education, Journal of Urban Learning Teaching and Research, Language and Literacy Education, Young Children, Literacy Research and Instruction, Action in Teacher Education, and Journal of School Leadership.
