Biography

Dr. Ma. Bernadette Andres-Salgarino, first Filipino President of the California Mathematics Council (CMC), serves as Region 1 Instruction and Professional Development for the California Teachers Association CTA). A former high school math teacher, she has taught AP Calculus AB/BC and AP Statistics, and served as a mentor and instructional coach in the East Side Union High School District. A National Board Certified Teacher and member of the Mathematics Curriculum Framework Committee (2013 & 2023), she is a passionate advocate for rehumanizing mathematics. She has led teacher cohorts focused on elevating educator-led professional development and fostering meaningful engagement with students and families from marginalized and underrepresented communities.
