Biography

Ali Shahbazian, PhD, PE (WA and CA) is an associate geotechnical engineer with Shannon & Wilson in Seattle Washington and has 18 years of experience (as of 2023) practicing geotechnical earthquake engineering and seismic risk assessment. His expertise includes site-specific probabilistic and deterministic seismic hazard analysis, engineering seismology, time history ground motion development, seismic design spectrum for critical infrastructures (e.g., bridges, dams, levees, hospitals, etc.), and earthquake-induced liquefaction hazard assessment. He mainly practices in Western North America (BC, WA, OR, CA, and AK), but he also has experiences working on sites near the New Madrid seismic zone in the midwestern US.
