Biography

Sylvia Pastor received her BS degree in chemistry from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY and her MS and Ph.D. from the University of California, Riverside. She is a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and American Association of Chemistry Teachers (AACT). Dr. Pastor is a faculty member at Roane State Community College where she coordinates their Lab-in-a-Box outreach program. Lab-in-a-Box is part of Roane State’s larger strategy to engage and recruit students in STEM fields. This program supports 27 rural school around Oak Ridge, Tennessee by providing hands-on science kits and teacher training geared for 6th-8th grade.
