Research interests centre on the application of optical diagnostics to the investigation of fluid-based processes such as turbulence, multi-phase flow, combustion and particulate transport. The emphasis of this work is to provide insight into the fundamental physics that underpin complex systems and use this knowledge to provide further understanding and optimisation. Current areas of research focus on laser fume generation in decommissioning, battery thermal management, spray-surface interactions in aftertreatment systems, and multi-phase flows in pharmaceutical devices
