Biography

Dr Lewis Jones is a Lecturer in Engineering Product Design in the School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering at Loughborough University, UK. He is the Programme Director for Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering. Working within the Optical Engineering Research Group his research specialises in energy-efficient laser manufacturing processes and laser safety. He is currently supervising PhD students in the safe use of lasers for nuclear decommissioning. Lewis has led industry-funded research totalling over £500k in the field of laser treatment of textiles, developing new laser surface treatments of compliant materials.
