Alabama State University
I’m a third year Ph.D. student at Alabama State University. I graduated with a B.sc in Biology in 2016. My research was focused on soil microbiology and microbial pathogenicity. I participated in research internship and did poster presentations at scientific conferences, including ABRCMS. After my graduation, I joined the Alabama Department of Public Health as a microbiologist before rejoining ASU. Currently, we’re studying the toxicity of sorbents on indigenous microorganisms isolated from the East Fork Poplar Creek soil, in Oak Ridge, TN. Sorbents (organoclay, PM199 and MRM) inoculated with Serratia Marcescens suggests that the growth of the microorganism is likely inhibited when the sorbents concentration is increased.
