Biography

Dr. Damjanac has more than 30 years of experience in application of rock mechanics to solving problems in different industries. He has been involved in design and stability analysis of underground excavations for nuclear waste isolation, including 10 year of participation in the Yucca Mountain Project, U.S. program for underground storage of high-level nuclear waste, and more than 10 years with Canadian nuclear waste disposal program. In recent years he is involved in the program funded by U.S. DOE to investigate the technical feasibility of direct geological disposal of spent nuclear fuel in loaded dual purpose canisters.
