Biography

Pete Sauer has an undergraduate degree in Physics Engineering and a MS in Environmental Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. He served in the US Navy and Naval reserves as a submarine officer and intelligence officer. With over 30 years’ experience supporting or managing varied CERCLA remediation and waste management projects, he has been directly involved in characterizing, packaging, and shipping over 4000 m3 of LLW for commercial disposal, and processing over 1000 m3 of TRU waste for final certification and shipment to WIPP. Current responsibilities include characterization of materials abandoned in the 105-KW Fuel Storage Basin at Hanford.
