Biography

Karen Day is a Consulting Engineer with URS Professional Solutions LLC, Regulatory Environmental Services. She has a BS in Chemical Engineering from Texas Tech University and over 20 years of experience with the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) facility, located in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Her past work experience with the WIPP facility includes environmental compliance, RCRA permit development, and waste-characterization data validation. Currently, she is responsible for day-to-day maintenance of the WIPP RCRA permit, including facilitating and negotiating Class 2 and 3 permit modifications with the New Mexico Environment Department.
