Biography

Mr. O’Connor is currently the Director of the US Department of Energy’s Office of Packaging and Transportation. In this position since 2008, he manages DOE's programs to ensure the transportation of DOE materials, particularly radioactive and other hazardous materials, are shipped in a safe, secure and economical manner. He also manages the DOE transportation emergency preparedness program to ensure that federal, state, tribal and local responders have access to the plans, training and technical assistance necessary to safely, efficiently and effectively respond to transportation accidents involving DOE-owned radioactive materials.
