Biography

Igor Smirnov is Associate Director and Scientific Secretary of Khlopin Radium Institute in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. He has a Full Doctor degree in radiochemistry, 30 years of experience in the nuclear industry, more than 100 papers and 25 patents. He has been working the last ten years on solvent extraction, radiochemical technologies, radioactive waste management, decontamination and soil remediation. He is a coauthor of the UNEX solvent extraction process and a new perspective for such process is a subject of this presentation.
