Andrew Persinko is currently the Deputy Director in the Division of Waste Management and Environmental Protection in the Office of Federal and State Materials and Environmental Management Programs (FSME). In this position, Mr. Persinko has responsibility for the decommissioning of reactors, materials facilities and uranium recovery facilities. He is also responsible for overseeing the safety of operating uranium recovery facilities and the licensing of new uranium recovery facilities. Mr. Persinko joined the NRC in 1979 as a structural engineer in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR). He has held a number of progressively more responsible positions in NRR, the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards, and FSME. In private industry, Mr. Persinko worked as a consultant to the Department of Energy and the commercial nuclear industry, and as a design and construction engineer for the DuPont chemical company. Mr. Persinko graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Delaware, a Master’s degree in civil/structural engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland.
