Biography

Kai Hämäläinen is a senior inspector at Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority, Finland (STUK). He has a master’s degree in radiochemistry from University of Helsinki and he has been working on nuclear waste management field since 2007. First he focused on the biosphere assessment review but during the years he has participated also in regulatory review of environmental impact assessments and decision in principle applications. For the last two and half years he has been working as a project manager on a construction license application review project of a spent nuclear fuel encapsulation plant and underground disposal facility.
