Roger Archabal is a Principal/Vice President with Langan Engineering & Environmental Services and has more than 35 years of geotechnical engineering consulting experience. The majority of his career emphasis has been in Florida; however, he has practiced in other parts of the Gulf Region as well as in Latin America and the Caribbean. Mr. Archabal is experienced in many aspects of geotechnical engineering, especially foundation support in difficult coastal geologies.
Mr. Archabal has managed thousands of projects covering a wide variety of deep and shallow foundation systems. His deep foundation experience includes driven piles, drilled shafts and augercast piles for a myriad of structures including towers over 1000 ft tall. Mr. Archabal has also designed shallow foundations including spread footings, combined footings and mats for varied sized structures, including towers over 40 stories tall.
Mr. Archabal has extensive experience with varied geotechnical engineering issues including slope stability, geosynthetic reinforcement, preloading and prefabricated vertical drains to reduce settlements and improve stability. He has performed geotechnical failure investigations for building foundations, earth structures and retaining walls and has been designated a geotechnical expert by the Florida court system.
Mr. Archabal is the former President of the American Society of Civil Engineers (South Florida
