Abstract

E-learning is used to enhance students’ skills in the thermodynamics course. Phase change of substances is considered as the core of this course that the students face at the early stages of their study in the college of engineering at UAE University. Any misunderstanding of the topic will be reflected on the students’ understanding the subsequent subjects of the course and for the other courses that they need to take later. In the present study, an iPad application was used to create the required material for the topic phase change of substances. In addition, a special video production software was adopted to reproduce the material in the form of a video in order to have an accessible reference at any time. The video can also be enhancement by adding interactive questions. The produced video was distributed and explained to the students and the students were given a project in which they had to produce a video explaining one of the topics in the course. Feedback from the students were collected and analyzed.
