Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the progress made in the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Saudi Arabia with emphasis on SDG7. Based on the Voluntary National Review (VNR) report submitted to the UN in July 2018 and other documents in the literature, the present analysis has been prepared to focus on the efforts made by the Saudi Government towards implementing the SDG7 “Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all”. Challenges faced in implementing SDG7 and new opportunities have been investigated using quantitative research method. The analysis shows that the KSA has set several initiatives and targets for sustainable development and is committed to achieving them all with specific national socio-economic target based on the Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program.
