Abstract

The coffee maker is a machine for making coffee by extracting the ground coffee bean powder by spraying hot water through the group head. Coffee brewing machines circulating in the community today have different functions and capacity of water tanks according to their respective prices. A coffee maker business that has just started, uses a simple coffee maker with the water tank capacity is still very small. In this study, modifications were made to the coffee machine in order to improve the performance of the coffee maker, such as increasing the capacity of the water tank and changing the single group head to double group head so that the machine can produce more output than before the modification. This study aims to continue the existing coffee brewing machine to modify and redesigning a dual group head and increasing the water tank capacity to 38L, so that the barista can produce 2 cups of coffee in one serving. Using 2 methods, namely the Reverse Engineering Method by analyzing existing products as a reference and redesigning them by improving the product's performance and using the VDI 2221 Method to optimize the material, technology, and economic condition of the machine. After making modifications, the engine becomes more efficient than machines that could only do 14 repetitions after being modified can do 89 repetitions.
