Abstract
Pati Regency, as one of the salt-producing centers in Indonesia, has quite a large potential salt. However, there are many problems identified. Those are the quality of the salt could not meet the specifications of domestic salt companies, the seasonal production that makes imbalance in the stock of raw materials with the demand, the price of salt that very volatile and the salt producer that we called as salt farmers in Pati do not receive sufficient welfare rewards. They needs various breakthroughs that can provide more incentives to salt producers and improve their quality. This study analyze the opportunity of salt as the material of battery cathodes. The University Centre of Excellence for Electrical Energy Storage Technology UNS has a mini-plant with raw material capacity of 10 kg/day of salt, and considers a study for a bigger capacity located in Pati Regency. In this study, a warehouse receipt system as a subsidy system proposed to make the prices attractive to salt farmers. We integrated a supply chain network design and warehouse receipt system to improve the feasibility of a cathode material factory as alternative solutions to price stability for stakeholders. The results obtained constitute a recommendation to the Regency Government to evaluate the feasibility of establishing a cathode material factory by considering the benefits for each stakeholder, namely salt farmers, government, and cathode factory.
