Abstract

Quality management techniques are very important for efficiency, effectiveness and productivity in diverse sectors. Six Sigma has been widely used as a management technique to improve quality in manufacturing and service systems. This research is focused on systematic identification of opportunities for possible implementation in manufacturing and service sector, looking at previous research conducted by forebearer. A deep assessment was conducted with focus on previous research, it was observed that implementation of six sigma in manufacturing and service sector is top and effectively used in Europe and America; the technique require strategic implementation for operational and optimal outcome; the major determination and key area of focus of the Six Sigma technique is to achieve reduction of cost, errors and time quality improvement customer satisfaction. The methodical review of lean and six sigma technique serves as a bird eye view for strategist and professionals in the manufacturing and service industries to help boost quality, productivity and performance in systems. Also, it is recommended that product and service-based sectors in emerging and developing nations adopt the Six Sigma technique for optimal performance in the organizations.
