Abstract
The objective of this research work is to describe in a concrete and precise way the concept developed mainly by Barry Staw about the escalation of commitment, phenomenon that is evident in the actors who make decisions in organizations and the government, among others.
In order to make visible the behavior of escalation of commitment in the organization and to be able to analyze it in real situations, an academic case was designed and implemented on the actions that can be presented in an organization, identifying the most relevant components of the literature that are part of this behavior.
A group of 464 people with knowledge in administration and finance, object of this research. Was asked about the escalation of commitment and the most relevant associated attitudes, subsequently it was analyzed which of the components are the ones that most influence decision making of the financial managers and finally what actions would be the best to implement with this behavior.
The results of this work show that commitment escalation behaviors, such as organizational behaviors, are more relevant and important for the group of older women, than another group of the population. In addition, being able to identify these behaviors and components has led to actions that must be prioritized to avoid being more effective in the decision-making process and avoid developing this behavior in the organization.
