Abstract

Developing a maintenance program of electrical medical devices (EMDs) considered as one of the essential steps in medical sector. If the hospital follows this step, it will lead to create effective EMDs with high efficiency and reliability. Moreover, creating a effective maintenance program will assist the hospital to avoid breakdown. In this project, EMDs maintenance program in Dar Al-Shifa Hospital is studied. From the maintenance theory of corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance are related. So, the processes of corrective maintenance were investigated by using DMAIC methodology to meet Six Sigma standards. By collecting the needed data, root causes of EMDs breakdown were analyzed to come up with the most affected one. Therefore, the most affected cause will be minimized by using Six Sigma strategy. Consequently, these causes will have the highest priority in the work of preventive maintenance. Hence, the efficiency of the preventive maintenance will be increase, and applying the corrective maintenance will be decrease, so the number of breakdown of EMDs will be minimized.
