Abstract
Every time we go to a restaurant or a diner and we order for takeaway, the restaurant or the diner packs food in a clamshell and give it to us. These clamshells after the use end up in the garbage and accounts for waste. Disposable tableware including clamshells are incinerated after every use which in turn causes air pollution. So, in this research paper, we have compared the environmental impacts of Eco clamshells made from bagasse which are composted after every use with Styrofoam clamshells made from Polystyrene. For comparison we have used Life Cycle Analysis method which is a ‘Cradle to Grave’ technique. We have also performed the Sensitivity Analysis of different scenarios and evaluated which technique is actually better and also answered the question whether ‘Eco’ is actually green for the society.
