Track: Industry 4.0
Abstract
Recent problems, as well as anticipated future ones, necessitate a greater integration of digital technologies and smart manufacturing methods in the process of addressing them. Specifically, Industry 4.0, which integrates information gathering, storage, and analysis, has enabled intermachine communication, flexibility, and operational efficiency at a lower cost while also increasing productivity and efficiency. Despite the fact that this technology has significant prospects in a variety of industries, there are still several barriers to its widespread adoption. This paper therefore focuses on the current manufacturing technologies associated with Industry 4.0 in order to highlight the opportunities they present, the challenges that have been encountered in their implementation, and the readiness of industries and small-scale businesses to adopt these technologies in the future. Unfortunately, no paper or research work has discussed and reviewed these issues of Industry 4.0 and the associated technologies in an integrated way. Therefore, this paper makes an original contribution to the literature on Industry 4.0.
