Abstract

Supply chain (SC) e-integration is considered as a key competitive strategy in the current business environment that is characterized by fierce competition, volatile demand and uncertain supply. It has three dimensions: supply-side e-integration, customer-side e-integration and internal e-integration. SC e-integration is often reported as an enhancer of firm performance in the form of customer service improvement, efficiency increase, product quality, etc., and hence is a precursor of increased profit.  However, the different dimensions of SC e-integration result in different aspects of firm performance. An organization’s overall strategy influences all decision-making activities including those related to the SC.  This study relates organizational strategy types to the dimensions, the information system architecture, and customization of SC e-integration.
