Abstract

Accessing the performance of library is crucial for education, research, and community development. it facilitates efficient resource allocation by identifying areas of strengths and weaknesses and enabling libraries to prioritize investments where they are most needed. Therefore, this study developed a multi-factor decision-making approach to accessing the performance of Indian libraries. We proposed fuzzy integrated decision-making framework to identify and analyze these factors in this context. First, we identify thirteen factors which impact the performance of libraries from extensive literature review. Then, we screened thirteen factors using Fuzzy Delphi method and identified eleven key factors which impacting the performance of library. Further, we computed the weights of key factors using Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process and ranked the factors based on their weights. In order to evaluate the Indian library, we chose ten different Indian libraries and analyzed their performance using Fuzzy Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution. The results revealed that Library 4 is the most efficient library. Moreover, the proposed framework serves as a useful tool for library management to address performance related challenges. The framework offers library management a helpful tool to address performance related challenges. It provides a practical solution to tackle obstacles and optimize operations. The clear and concise approach ensures efficient management of libraries, allowing them to function smoothly and effectively.
