A billets reheating furnace simulator was used for identifying the variables that must be measured with more accurate equipment and methods to estimate the furnace’s energy efficiency when energy audits are performed. For this purpose, several easy-to-implement yet effective data analysis methods for screening are employed. The results analysis allows to identify the variables with the greatest practical influence (significant effect) on furnace’s energy efficiency. No differences were found in methods performance.
